About La Salle Academy
Founded in 1871, La Salle Academy is a Catholic, coeducational, college preparatory school sponsored by the Brothers of the Christian Schools (De La Salle Christian Brothers). Located in the heart of Providence, Rhode Island, the Academy serves approximately 1,460 students in grades 6 through 12. Our mission is to educate young men and women of diverse backgrounds, with a special concern for the working class and the poor, in the tradition of St. John Baptist de La Salle’s ideals of faith, service, and community.
Position Overview La Salle Academy seeks a dedicated and dynamic English Long-Term Substitute Teacher to join our esteemed English Language Arts Department through the second semester. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching five high school classes at varying levels of English and Literature.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and comprehensive instruction in assigned English courses.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development and pedagogical strategies.
- Maintain open communication with students, parents, and faculty through conferences and regular updates.
- Integrate technology effectively into the curriculum to enhance learning experiences.
- Participate actively in departmental meetings and contribute to the school's faith-based initiatives.
- Assess and support student progress through differentiated instruction.
- Participate in school activities, professional development, and extracurricular programs as needed.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in English.
- Experience in academic preparation or experience teaching are preferred.
- Experience in teaching high school aged students is desired, though those whose teaching has focused on advanced middle schoolers or the early college years are also encouraged to apply.
- Familiarity with computers and an interest in technology integration in the English curriculum is essential.
